Nio Guardian of Tourinji Temple – Ishigaki, Japan

Tourinji Temple, founded in 1614, was the first temple in the Yaeyamas. Two Nio guardians stand on either side of the temple entrance acting as mythical bouncers and warding off evil spirits.
