Back in Okinawa…

Flew back into Okinawa last night.

Trip went as planned except that I spent 3 nights near Nachi Katsuura to get the shots I wanted of the waterfall so didn’t make it to Mt Hiei or Wakayama City.

In Osaka I got film processed at Yodobashi Camera.

5 rolls of Provia 400F 120

16 rolls of Provia 100F 220

I still have 7 exposed rolls of 220 that I will drop off at Kitamura Camera later today.

Big pile of transparencies means I will spend the next week with a loupe, light box and scanner. Hopefully will have some images ready for the web in the next few days.

How fast are Yodobashi with 120-format color film? I live in south Osaka so I don’t normally go up to Umeda, but if they’re fast it may be worth it.

BTW, and this may be infringing on your professional secrets, but what scanner software do you use? I use Vuescan and it’s fine for BW, but I have a frustrating time trying to get the color balance right for color film.

Yodobashi got film back next day after 6pm. Maybe if you get there early in the morning it could be the same day. It was 1100 yen for a 220 roll and 785 yen for a 120 roll. Much cheaper than Okinawa. It is also processed by the Fuji pro lab not in-house.

I use the epson software that came with the scanner, sometimes the color balance seems to be off, sometimes it’s fine. Just have to make adjustments.

You live in south Osaka – I stayed 2 nights in Namba. Should have met up for coffee! Maybe next time.

Thanks. Hmm, Naniwa also uses the Fuji Pro lab but they take three working days for the same job. Frustrating thing is, the Fuji lab is just ten minutes from where I live but they keep strict business hours. Since my workplace likes me to do so too I can’t actually use them.
